Government Extends JPK Income-Tax Filing Deadlines by Two Months
Poland's finance ministry proposes pushing back JPK PIT and CIT reporting deadlines from the end of the 5th month to the end of the 7th month after fiscal year-end, easing compliance pressure for businesses.
The Polish government has approved a significant proposal to relax reporting deadlines for JPK (Jednolity Plik Kontrolny—Unified Control File) submissions in income taxes. Instead of filing by the end of the 5th month following the close of the tax year, businesses will now have until the end of the 7th month.
What Changed
The extension applies to:
- CIT taxpayers filing corporate income tax returns
- PIT taxpayers who maintain full accounting books (księgi rachunkowe) and submit JPK files
- Non-legal entities subject to corporate tax
For companies with a calendar tax year, the new deadline is July 31 instead of May 31. This gives firms two additional months to finalize books, verify entries, and prepare their structural XML filings before submission to tax authorities.
Why This Matters
Under the old schedule, businesses had to file JPK before formally closing their books and approving annual financial statements—a logistical squeeze. The new timetable aligns reporting with the actual pace of year-end closures, eliminating the pressure to rush documentation. For accountants and business owners managing multiple entities or complex transactions, this relief reduces year-end crunch and compliance risk.
Who Benefits
If you run an LLC (Sp. z o.o.), partnership, or operate as a sole proprietor with full accounting obligations, you gain two extra months to organize data and test your JPK file before sending it to the tax office. Foreign business owners and expats with Polish-registered entities should note this change when budgeting time for annual close-out work with their accountant.
