Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how MyHAbroad (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our website. We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Polish data protection law.

1. Who we are

MyHAbroad is operated as an informational community platform for foreigners settling in Poland. For data-protection questions, contact us at privacy@myhabroad.com.

2. What data we collect

  • Account data: email address, name (optional), hashed password, email-verification timestamp.
  • Content you submit: community posts, comments, uploaded images, teacher profile details.
  • Usage data: pages visited, IP address (for security and rate-limiting), browser type, referrer.
  • Cookies: a session cookie for authentication, and optional analytics cookies if you consent.

3. Legal basis for processing

  • Contract — to provide the account and community features you sign up for.
  • Legitimate interest — to keep the platform secure (rate-limiting, abuse detection) and to improve content.
  • Consent — for analytics cookies and any newsletter subscription. You may withdraw consent at any time.

4. How long we keep your data

Account data is retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently remove personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., security logs, financial records).

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data. We share data only with sub-processors strictly required to operate the service:
  • Hosting & database: Vercel, Supabase
  • Transactional email: Resend
  • AI article generation: Anthropic (only article prompts, never personal data)

6. Your rights under GDPR

You have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Email privacy@myhabroad.com to exercise any of these rights. You may also lodge a complaint with the Polish Data Protection Authority (UODO).

7. Cookies

We use a strictly necessary cookie to keep you signed in. Analytics cookies are only set after you grant consent via the cookie banner.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced on the site. The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
