Poland launches digital health prescription system for foreign residents
Poland's National Health Fund (NFZ) has rolled out a new e-prescription platform allowing foreigners with PESEL and NFZ coverage to access prescriptions digitally via the mojeIKP app, starting May 20, 2026.
As of May 20, 2026, foreign residents registered with Poland's National Health Fund (NFZ) can now access electronic prescriptions through the mojeIKP mobile app and web portal, previously available only to Polish citizens. The system, operated by the Centre for Health Information Systems (CSIOZ), integrates with the existing e-prescription infrastructure used by pharmacies nationwide.
How to access
To use the service, you must have a valid PESEL number, active NFZ health insurance, and a trusted profile (profil zaufany) or mobile e-signature. Once logged into the mojeIKP app, prescriptions issued by any NFZ-contracted doctor appear automatically. You can view, download, or share prescription codes with pharmacies without needing a paper copy. The app also stores your prescription history and sends reminders for refills.
Language support and compatibility
The mojeIKP app currently supports Polish and English interfaces, with Ukrainian, Russian, and German translations expected by autumn 2026. The system works at all pharmacies in Poland—simply provide your PESEL number or scan the prescription QR code from the app.
For foreigners with NFZ coverage (whether through employment, self-employment, or family insurance), this streamlines access to medications, especially if you lose paper prescriptions or need refills while traveling within Poland. If you don't yet have a profil zaufany, you can set one up at any post office or voivodeship office with your passport and residence card. The service is free and eliminates the need to carry physical prescription slips.
