This year's 191st Oktoberfest runs from Saturday, September 19, through Sunday, October 4, 2026, on Munich's Theresienwiese. The festival celebrates Bavarian culture with traditional beer, food, live music, and amusement rides across 38 beer tents and countless stalls.
Key festival highlights include the opening ceremony on September 19 at noon, when Munich's Lord Mayor taps the first keg with the traditional shout "O'zapft is!" (It is tapped!). On the first Sunday, a spectacular traditional costume parade marches through the city with nearly 10,000 participants in folk dress, horse-drawn beer carriages, and marching bands.
Practical tips for visitors
- Beer is served until 10:30–11 p.m. depending on the tent; stalls close at midnight Friday–Saturday, 11:30 p.m. weekdays
- Weekend and evening table reservations are free but fill quickly—tents begin accepting reservations between December and June
- Arrive early on opening day if you want a seat without a reservation; beer service starts at noon
