October Brings Expanded Family Benefits and New Healthcare Programs to Poland
Poland has implemented a range of policy changes in October 2026, including raising income thresholds for child support payments, launching a nationwide lung cancer detection program, and expanding fuel price stabilization measures.
October 2026 brought a series of changes in Poland affecting family benefits, healthcare, fuel prices, entrepreneurs, property owners, and farmers, with some taking effect October 1 and others rolling out throughout the month.
Family Support and Healthcare Changes
The income threshold for the Fundusz Alimentacyjny (Family Food Support Fund) was raised from 1,209 to 1,665 zlotys net per person in the family per month. This adjustment means more households now qualify for state support.
A nationwide lung cancer early detection program is launching, and patients can now receive calls from a virtual assistant reminding them of their doctor's appointments. The government has also launched a new phase of the fuel price stabilization program, and ZUS (social security) has allowed entrepreneurs to pay their contributions directly via mobile app.
Rural Development and Urban Planning
Starting in October, farmers can apply for funding for energy projects totaling up to 1.7 million zlotys, and the Rejestr Urbanistyczny (Urban Registry) has become the central system for tracking changes in land-use planning.
For foreigners in Poland: If you receive Polish family benefits or are employed as a freelancer/entrepreneur, check whether the new income thresholds now allow you to qualify for Fundusz Alimentacyjny. If you're self-employed through ZUS, you can now manage contributions more conveniently via the mobile app. Expat parents in rural areas or those considering property investments should be aware of the new urban registry centralization for planning approvals.
