London Tube Engineering Works: Piccadilly Line Closures 27 July–2 August
Transport for London is rolling out planned maintenance across the Tube network this week. The Piccadilly line, DLR, and Overground will see significant closures to facilitate infrastructure upgrades and track maintenance.
Closures This Week
Scheduled maintenance works and service alterations are slated to run across a week-long period, commencing on Monday, July 27, and stretching through to Sunday, August 2. These works affect multiple central London lines.
Key Line Closures
- Piccadilly Line: Planned interventions on the Piccadilly line are mapped for Thursday, July 30, and Friday, July 31, affecting travel between Cockfosters and Uxbridge. Friday night services will face a complete suspension across the entire line during the Friday Night Tube window.
- DLR: Tower Gateway to Shadwell on Sunday 2 August.
- Overground (Lioness line): Euston to Kilburn High Road, until 12:00 and after 20:30 on Sunday 2 August.
Travel Advice
Transport for London urges passengers to utilise journey planning tools and official apps to navigate alternative routes safely. During Tube closures, bus and National Rail services provide alternatives.
For expats and new residents: If you live in or frequently travel through central London, check the TfL website and Journey Planner app before heading out, especially this weekend. Avoid the Piccadilly line if possible on Thursday–Friday. These engineering works are routine and not strike action, so services will resume normally on Monday 3 August.
