He received the diagnosis after struggling with headaches and vision problems over the last few months. The majority of these masses are benign, but he has to wait for upcoming appointments with a neurosurgeon to find out what comes next. Boyer said in a social media post that he feels well, his energy is excellent, and he retains all his capabilities.

While he must wait for more information to 'see what happens next,' he plans to remain in office, though he will scale back his public activities. Boyer, who was elected as Laval's youngest-ever mayor at age 33 in 2021 and re-elected in 2025, will continue to handle working meetings and mayoral duties.
