Poland's meteorological institute issued heat warnings for 15 voivodeships as a new heat wave approaches, with temperatures expected to reach 30–35°C on Saturday and potentially higher in western regions.
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued Level 1 and Level 2 heat warnings for the weekend of August 16–18, affecting much of central, southern, and western Poland. Saturday's temperatures are forecast to range from 25°C on the coast to 30–32°C in central areas, with the western voivodeships potentially reaching 35°C.
Level 1 warnings alert the public to potential health risks from extreme heat, while Level 2 warnings indicate a higher risk of heat-related illness and recommend limiting outdoor activity. The heat is expected to ease overnight Saturday as a cooler atmospheric front moves in from the northwest.
Heat waves have become increasingly common in Poland over recent summers, and the IMGW has issued numerous warnings throughout August as the country experiences extended periods of elevated temperatures.
