The portal is available at 167 German visa offices globally and is fully operational for student visas, Opportunity Card, work visas, and more, with processing times reduced to 4–6 weeks for most applications (down from 8–12 weeks previously).
Key improvements:
- All major German visa types are now available digitally, including the Chancenkarte (Opportunity Card), family reunification visas, and training visas
- The system includes a free Visa Navigator tool to help applicants select the correct visa category
- A Fiktionsbescheinigung (provisional residence certificate) can be issued more quickly while the full visa processes
