The Autumn Budget 2026 will be delivered on Wednesday 28 October 2026. Chancellor John Healey confirmed the date on 31 July 2026 and asked the Office for Budget Responsibility to prepare an economic and fiscal forecast for publication alongside it.
Although income tax and National Insurance rate freezes are promised, No increase to the rates of income tax, VAT or National Insurance is expected. The prime minister has committed to honouring Labour's 2024 manifesto pledges, which includes commitments not to raise these for the rest of this Parliament. However, dividends and savings income as ongoing targets, since a rise there would not break the manifesto pledge on income tax, National Insurance and VAT.
What could change on 28 October
The personal allowance and higher-rate thresholds are frozen at £12,570, and the rUK higher-rate threshold stays frozen at £50,270 (Scotland's is £43,662), both confirmed frozen until 5 April 2031. But government could announce changes to allowances for savings, ISAs, pensions, inheritance tax, or business reliefs without breaking manifesto promises.
